Geriatric Health Care Shadowing and Volunteer Opp

The geriatric medical practice of Paul S. Rhodes, M.D. and associates provides house calls to home-bound elderly persons in under-served areas of Washington, DC. They are seeking volunteers to assist in the office for intake of patient information, scheduling and confirming of house call appointments, receiving and sending of fax orders and follow-up phone calls with patient and family members to ensure compliance with plans of care and patient satisfaction. Candidates must be compassionate towards the elderly and possess good telephone communication skills and basic computer skills. Senior citizens and college students are welcome. The volunteer experience, minimum one month please, 5 or more hours per week, will provide meaningful health care experience for students seeking admission to (or already enrolled in) schools of nursing, social work, clinical psychology or medicine. The student may additionally participate in the medical house call, rounding with the doctor if she or he desires. Certificates of volunteerism and letters of recommendation will be given provided the volunteer honors the time commitment with minimal or no cancellations, no shows or change of days or hours. Thanks for considering this educational, humanistic medical volunteer opportunity. For more information contact Dr. Rhodes, at 202-713-1234 or DrPaulShalom@yahoo.com
