Last month Mr. Moody visited a school of osteopathic medicine (D.O.) in Florida and had a few things to say about it. Turns out he was quite prescient in his remarks, since osteopathic medicine has made the news recently! One article makes the point that osteopathic physicians are no longer a “fringe” element in the medical community. Many residency programs are now dual-accredited by MD and DO organizations, and Dartmouth Medical Center gives a very favorable endorsement. Another article highlights the increasing role that DO’s have given the present and projected shortage of primary care in rural areas. Incidentally, this article highlights Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine, who will be present at the first annual Health Professions Fair at GW in April! Wait, did someone say “Health Professions Fair”? Don’t worry, you’ll be hearing plenty more about it in coming weeks…stay tuned!
